Takeaway & delivery at its Easter best

I might be a bit late with this article, as you’ve naturally been preparing for Easter for weeks, but I think these tips will still be useful, so I’m sharing them anyway.

Easter is fast approaching, and I’ve already seen Easter boxes and breakfast deals being announced on social media and websites. Great! It’s a prime opportunity to score extra revenue at a time when it’s becoming terrace weather, but the weather isn’t allowing for terraces.

Because your mood has probably dropped to freezing point after that last press conference, but spring is in the air, so your guests will soon have a serious case of spring fever that needs an outlet—ideally by placing a festive order at your place, of course.

So get to work and make Easter a real celebration for your (potential) customers. ?

Last week, I promised my daughter’s primary school that I’d squeeze into an Easter bunny suit, so maybe that offers some inspiration for you too?

If that’s a step too far, here are 4 top tips to get you at your Easter best:

1. Really make a difference!

By far the best tip I can give you is that you need to stand out. Not just from your hospitality competitors nearby, but especially from supermarkets that are now offering an Easter version of everything you can imagine. It’s very tempting for people to put something together themselves using all those supermarket Easter products, so really think about it: how do you make the difference? What will make people choose to order from you?

2. Make it personal!

One way to stand out is by literally making it personal. Whether you’re targeting families or couples, making it personal offers something truly different. How do you do that? For example, you could add the customer’s name(s) to a chocolate egg or a homemade bread bunny using icing, fondant, or chocolate. Or provide other elements that make it truly personal, such as a handwritten note with a personal message or soft- or hard-boiled eggs, exactly as the customer requested. The more personal, the better, because the more it differs from a DIY breakfast, lunch, or brunch, the better. Offer choices and surprise them!

3. Top it off with all the bells and whistles

Add even more value by paying extra attention to the decoration and packaging of your items. I always call this “the bells and whistles.” Think of nice napkins, cute egg cups the customer can keep, a “decorate your own egg” kit, some little fuzzy chicks, and a bow around the box. Go wild and make it a real party.

4. Focus on aftercare

I’ve said this before, but I can’t emphasize it enough: make sure you don’t just benefit from customers during Easter. Think carefully about how you can ensure these Easter customers choose a takeaway or delivery item again for King’s Day, for example, or perhaps even drop by in person… who knows.

Happy Easter!
