Black Label Hotels appoints Regional Manager for Belgium

Maurits van Zwol starts as Regional Manager for Belgium with his first major project: the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport.

BRUSSELS/SITTARD – Given the rapid developments in the Belgian hotel market, the Dutch hotel operator Black Label Hotels (BLH) has appointed a Regional Manager for Belgium. 57-year-old Maurits van Zwol is starting in Brussels. There, he is currently making the final preparations for the opening of the brand-new Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport.

In his role as Regional Manager for Belgium, Van Zwol will also take the lead on other projects BLH is working on in Belgium. Which hotels these are—and under which brand and name they will operate—is expected to be announced later this year.

Successful career

Educated at the Hotel Management School Maastricht, Van Zwol can now look back on a successful career in the hospitality industry. He knows the Belgian hotel world inside out. For example, he worked in Antwerp as General Manager for Tulip Inn, Golden Tulip, and Ramada Plaza, among others. He also managed four casinos and worked for Sandton Hotel Cocagne (Cagnes-sur-Mer), Golden Tulip Marseille, and Tulip Inn Schiphol Amsterdam. Before coming to Brussels, he was responsible as hotel manager for Radisson Blu Hotel Hasselt and Park Inn by Radisson in Hasselt, Belgian Limburg.

Van Zwol’s first major project for BLH in Belgium is the 250-room Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport, part of ‘The Wings’, a contemporary office center near Zaventem international airport. The new hotel is just a seven-minute drive from NATO headquarters, which is also one of its first major clients. Various other international institutions and companies have also decided to partner with Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport.

Ambitious hotel professional

The advanced post of Black Label Hotels will mainly use the coming months to put Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport firmly on the map. “Working in Brussels, a metropolis with so many different nationalities, many of whom work for large international organizations, is a wonderful challenge for an ambitious ‘hotello’ like me.”

It should come as no surprise to anyone that he will be pleasantly busy in the coming period. “From the fact that I have been appointed as Regional Manager Belgium, you can deduce that as far as BLH is concerned, it won’t stop at one or two locations. I’m looking forward to magnificent hotels in beautiful cities. Impress the guest, is my motto, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in the coming period, of course together with my driven colleagues. I can’t say yet which cities we’re looking at. But you can count on it being fantastic.”
