Iconic wine cellars of CodornĂu are the backdrop for Love for Music
Antwerp, March 30, 2020 – Monday marked the start of the new season of the legendary music program Love for Music. In these difficult times, the program hopefully offers some musical comfort for Belgium. Not least because the recordings were made in the iconic cava cellars of CodornĂu in Sant SadurnĂ d’Anoia near Barcelona. Big names like AndrĂ© Hazes, Regi, Karen Damen, Gene Thomas, Sean Dhondt, Peter Van Laet from Mama’s Jasje and Tom Dice & Kato Callebaut perform in this breathtaking Spanish location that was converted into a unique recording studio.

“Dit nieuwe seizoen van Liefde voor Muziek belooft ook dit jaar een gepast muzikaal feest te worden. De artiesten reizen naar de inspirerende Spaanse zon om hun stempel te drukken op elkaars nummers. Catchy melodieĂ«n, verrassende lyrics en prachtige songs die vanaf 30 maart 2020 elke maandag om 20u35 weerklinken”, aldus VTM.
About the location
CodornĂu is synonymous with the history of a family of winemakers dating back to the sixteenth century. It is the oldest wine company in Spain. Manuel RaventĂ³s, the driving force behind CodornĂu, hired modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch in 1895 to expand the winery. Caves CodornĂu was declared national historical heritage in 1976, a magnificent piece of architecture dedicated to the production and aging of the world’s finest sparkling wines. Everyone can visit the wine cellars, more information at: www.visitascodorniu.com/visit/codorniu-visit/
About the Cava
For more than a century, CodornĂu has always conducted its second fermentation and aging in an underground cellar labyrinth at exactly the right temperature. In 1872, Josep RaventĂ³s FatjĂ³ made the world’s first Cava using the “Traditional Method” and used indigenous grape varieties from the Penedès region: Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. This way, he was able to establish a completely new industry in the region and link the CodornĂu brand to the history of Cava.
